RESET YOUR BEST LIFE: After a little too much celebrating

Let’s face it. You were doing great with your healthy eating and exercising plan to kick off the summer. But then, BBQs happened and 4th of July happened, and the food and the sweet drinks happened. Perhaps you’ve found yourself off the wagon you had worked so hard to get on. The good news is, getting back on the healthy eating wagon is not as tough as you may think. Here are a few simple ways to reboot and reset your healthy living plan after a weekend of treating yourself.

Don’t look back:

Don’t beat yourself up over the food you consumed or the exercising you didn’t do. Instead, look ahead to the future and set realistic and maintainable goals. It’s easy to want to beat yourself up for the decisions you made in the past and in turn, create lofty goals that are unrealistic. Keep in mind the first couple of days after an indulgent weekend may feel slow and harder to endure both physically and mentally. But if you can push through those couple of days, you will be back to your old routines in no time.


One of the best ways to get back on track is to drink lots of water. Aim for 8-10 cups of water a day. Replace your meal-time beverages with water, keep a water bottle with you throughout the day. Begin your day with a big glass of water with a squeeze of lemon or lime juice. This will kickstart your metabolism and help detox any of the unhealthy foods still in your system.

Plan Your Meals:

Fast and easy is what we want when we’re hungry and we typically won’t find healthy options unless we plan for it. Set aside time at the beginning of the week to make a healthy meal plan that includes snacks throughout the day. Check out this free printable meal plan to help you get started. Once you have set your meal plan, prep your snacks and meals. Put handfuls of almonds into snack baggies, broil some veggies and have them ready to grab and go. If you can have easy access to healthy foods, you will have a much greater chance of sticking to your healthy eating goals.

Get Moving:
